Dr. Jamee Pelcher

Biography

Dr. Jamee Ann Pelcher is an assistant professor in the Department of Administration and Law.

Dr. Pelcher was born and raised in New Jersey, but has called Franklin, NC home since 1996. Dr. Pelcher was an elite level gymnast and graduated from Holmdel High School, NJ in 1987. Afterwards, she promptly began her career as an entrepreneur. She owned and operated many businesses in the restaurant, event catering and hospitality, equine, and service industries. Additionally, she was a business consultant to several local sport clubs and teams.

After a life-changing event, she enrolled at Southwestern Community College in 2012. She found her passion for environmental sustainability while completing her business administration degree. Dr. Pelcher was awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship at Western Carolina University, where she was able to take her lifelong love and sport and business experience to earn her B.S.B.A degrees in sport management and finance with a minor in economics. She gained her U.S.G.B.C. LEED Green Associate certification during her time at Seattle University in the Sport Sustainability Leadership master’s certificate program. Dr. Pelcher returned to Western Carolina University to continue her studies in the MBA program. She graduated in spring of 2019 and started at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a Graduate Teaching Associate as she pursued her doctoral degree in Kinesiology and Sport Studies with a sport management major and a research focus in environmental sustainability in sport and sport ecology. Pelcher received her Ph.D. in May 2022.
