Biography

Dr. Stephen J. Snyder, an Assistant Professor of Management/MIS, conducts research in Ethics and Decision Making; Business Strategy, and War-Gaming Simulation; and Multimedia and Student Learning.

Snyder, a longtime military officer, has made frequent presentations at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, N.C. Topics include U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, business and military strategies, and “The World’s Police: The Unsustainability of U.S. Intervention.”

Other presentations covered a wide swath of topics: implications of the 2008 recession; issues in Africa and Southwest Asia; China’s financial practices; and transnational terrorism.

Peer-reviewed articles discussed ethical decision-making and an interactive military simulator trainer. Journals publishing his work include International Business Ethics and Armor.

Snyder, who provides pro bono Strategic Management consulting to Pensacola businesses, also has focused on educational topics such as the value of oral exams and capstone courses (generally considered an opportunity for students to demonstrate that they have achieved the goals for learning established by their educational institution and major department).

Snyder earned both an MBA and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University.

Snyder, who joined UWF’s faculty in 1991, teaches including Business Ethics, International Business, Business Policy and Strategic Management, Management Information Services and other courses.
