About Us

We are pleased to welcome you to the University of West Florida's College of Education and Professional Studies. We are proud to provide a professional learning experience for our next generation of professionals as well as those already in the workforce. Given today's increasingly complex world, we work hard to meet the needs of our students by offering flexibility in our course offerings.

Whether during the day on campus, evenings, weekends, through cohorts or through online learning, our distinguished faculty provide their research and expertise to students through a variety of very engaging classroom methods. We have faculty participating in many technology-based projects for student teaching, online learning, advising through web conferencing and classroom engagement. We have even had faculty deliver entire courses through mobile devices to our deployed military personnel.

Our specialized degree programs are offered worldwide at bachelors, masters and doctoral levels with a balance of academics and real world experiences. Many of our programs require internships, clinical experiences, practicum and capstone experiences that may include professional cooperative agreements for paid employment and internships that may be paid or unpaid. Each of these experiences provides students the opportunity to gain practical experience in chosen fields.

Throughout the college you will find programs that are engaging, practical and make an impact in the community and in our ever changing world. We have graduates who are teachers of the year, graduates that are making a difference in social work, legal studies, sport management, education, construction management, and instructional design; and a robust series of graduate students who are practicing in their field, bringing in a wealth of knowledge to share with classmates and the world.

Our faculty are engaged heavily in research, often in collaboration with our students. We have faculty working on the ground with students needing after school tutoring, faculty who work closely with battered wives and law enforcement, those with daily engagement with social services and ongoing evaluation work in the region. Faculty are also well connected in the community and work with organizations such as the National Flight Academy, Families First Network, Construction Specifications Institute, U.S. Navy, Ford-PAS, FavorHouse and many, many more.

We strive for excellence in all that we do. We are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and our initial teacher certification programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
