Gulf Scholars Program

The UWF Gulf Scholars Program aims to provide UWF students from all disciplines with the knowledge about “Florida’s Forgotten Coast” to address challenges specifically related to the Gulf and its communities while fostering the attitudes and expertise necessary to become responsible stewards of the Gulf region.

Faculty Course Incorporation Grant

The UWF Gulf Scholars Program will award grants to faculty (up to $1,500 per grant) to incorporate content or field work/trips that focus on the Gulf Region, which includes the coastline and all inland communities, into their existing courses, to expand the reach of the program. Existing courses, other than science, from any disciple are encouraged, especially arts, history, literature, and health focused courses. Grant awards will be based on the extent and impact of the proposed content integration or fieldwork. Funds may support content integration, out-of-state compensation, supplies, and field trip–related costs. Projects with strong sustainability will be prioritized. Course incorporation can happen Summer 2026, Fall 2026, or Spring 2027.

Interested faculty should complete the Grant Application by 5:00 PM, March 13, 2026.

Please contact Dr. Alexis Janosik (ajanosik@uwf.edu) or Dr. Kwame Owusu Daaku (kowusudaaku@uwf.edu) if you have questions.
