Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are available to help veterans, military and family pay for education expenses.
Brigadier General and Mrs. Michael L. Ferguson have established this scholarship for eligible UWF students who are enrolled in College of Business courses.
Scholarship recipients will receive an award of $1,500* ($750 for Fall semester and $750 for Spring semester). This scholarship is not automatically renewable and applicants must resubmit scholarship application each year.
Eligibility requirements:
- A military veteran or the son or daughter of a deceased, active duty, or retired veteran.
- Must be enrolled at UWF and taking College of Business courses
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Complete and submit the application before the deadline of 4 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024.
- Must demonstrate leadership capability and commitment to service.

This scholarship may award up to $2,500* per semester and should not exceed $5,000* per year. This award will be applied to the fall semester tuition. The scholarship may be renewed, not to exceed 8 semesters, as long as the recipient is making progress toward graduation.
Eligibility requirements:
- A dependent (child or spouse) of a non-commissioned officer (veteran, deceased or active duty)
- Must meet UWF enrollment requirements
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Complete and submit the application before the deadline.
- Be a resident of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa or Walton Counties.

The Navy Federal Credit Union established an annual scholarship with the University of West Florida Foundation, Inc.
Scholarship recipients will receive an award of $1,760* ($880 for Fall semester and $880 for Spring semester). This scholarship is not automatically renewable and applicants must resubmit scholarship application each year.
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a military veteran, dependent (child or spouse) or an active duty service member
- Must meet UWF enrollment requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Preference will be given to students who are Navy Federal Credit Union Members for at least 3 years.
- Complete and submit the application before the deadline of 4 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024.

The Scholarships for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans provides an award to dependent children or unmarried spouses of qualified Florida veterans.
To qualify for the scholarship, you must submit an error-free Florida Financial Aid Application.
If your parent or guardian died as a result of military service in Iraq or Afghanistan, you may be eligible for an Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant.
Who can get an Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant?
You may be eligible to receive the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant if:
- you are not eligible for a Federal Pell Grant on the basis of your Expected Family Contribution but
- meet the remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements, and
- your parent or guardian was a member of the U.S. armed forces and died as a result of military service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after the events of 9/11, and
- you were under 24 years old or enrolled in college at least part-time at the time of your parent’s or guardian’s death.
