SWIM Team

The SWIM (Students Who Intern & Mentor) Team provides military-affiliated students with one-on-one support throughout the semester.

The SWIM Team is a student-centered support program within the Military & Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) that offers personalized, one-on-one assistance to military-affiliated students throughout the semester.

Led by a dedicated Mentor Coordinator, a full-time MVRC staff member, the SWIM Team provides oversight, guidance, and mentorship to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality support. This initiative not only offers valuable professional experience for UWF Student Interns but also ensures that military-affiliated students have a dedicated point of contact — a SWIM Coach — for guidance, questions, and assistance. Whether navigating VA education benefits, accessing campus and community resources, or managing academic challenges, SWIM Coaches proactively reach out and remain available throughout the semester to help students stay on track.

Assistance through the SWIM Team is open and available to all military-affiliated students. In some cases, participation may be required as part of a success plan to help students meet the VA’s Standards of Progress (SOP), which require a minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students to remain eligible for educational benefits. Additionally, students who receive a grade of C- or below in any course or who are issued early warnings are contacted and strongly encouraged to take advantage of this supportive program.
