Army Resident MPH Program
The Army’s combined Aerospace & Occupational Medicine Residency Program is conducted through the School of Army Aviation Medicine (SAAM), at Fort Rucker, Alabama, the home of Army Aviation.
The program is 3 years long and internship completion is required prior to arrival. You do not need to be a Flight Surgeon to apply. Applicants must obtain and maintain a qualified Flight Duty Medical Exam (contact your local flight surgeon or SAAM for details). Aeromedical Waivers are available for specific conditions.
Residents are required to complete a 42 credit hour online Master’s Degree in Public Health during years 1 & 2 of the program. Tuition, Fees, and Books are paid for by the Army, and the required courses include Fundamentals of Occupational Safety & Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental Health, Toxicology, Accident Investigation/Risk Management & Mitigation, Public Health Policy, Public Health Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, Internship Project, Global Information System (GIS).

Non-Florida residents are required to submit the active duty out of state waiver that can be found in their MyUWF account. The dynamic waiver form will require that you upload a copy of your orders and most recent LES. Please redact all information with the exception of the first line and the block showing the state where taxes are paid. Failure to complete the waiver could result in a debt on the part of the student to the Army.
Florida residents will be required to submit a copy of their orders to graduate admissions during the graduate admission process.
Funding documents for the entire two year program are provided by the Army directly to the University. The University will then invoice the Army for each semester enrolled in after the drop/add period.
