Quality Designation Review Process

Quality Course Reviews explore course components proven to be best practices in online course design rather than simple page formatting or aesthetics.

Engaging in a course review demonstrates that you are continuously improving the learning experience for your students. Students will benefit by engaging in an effectively designed course that provides seamless structure and navigation, up-to-date syllabus information, and activities that promote meaningful learning.

Part 1 -  Prepare a Quality Online Course

  1. Take the DQOC or equivalent training course.
  2. Design and build a great online course with the help of an instructional designer.
  3. Teach the course at least once.
  4. Complete a Self-Review to make sure the course is ready to be reviewed.

Part 2 - Complete a Quality Course Review

  1. Submit your course for a Quality Review.
  2. Meet with an Instructional Designer to discuss the process.
  3. The review is conducted over 2-3 weeks.
  4. Meet with ID to discuss review outcomes.
  5. Make revisions if needed.
  6. We award the Quality Course designation to the course/faculty developer combination.

The iterative review process means that every course we review can eventually achieve a quality designation.

After five years, faculty must renew their quality designations with a course update and re-review.

If you are unsure whether your course meets the criteria for a course review, please submit a Support Ticket to schedule a consultation with an instructional designer.
