Admissions sat down with Emma to learn a little more about who she is and what she loves about UWF. Hear from her perspective to learn more about UWF.

    About Emma

Emma was born in Pensacola, but is originally from Kansas City. During high school, she moved back to Florida, but starting a new school during a pandemic made it very hard to find friends. When she was on the search for a college, UWF really stood out to her  not only because of its academic opportunities, but also its social opportunities. Emma joined many clubs and organizations and became a part of fraternity and sorority life. Through these communities, she found a support system she didn't even know that she needed. Having a social outlet helped her to excel in academics and have an unforgettable college experience. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, traveling, and going to the beach!

What's the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is helping students with such an exciting (and scary) new chapter of their lives! I love meeting new people and being a resource for them as they find their perfect fit. Every university is different, and it is important to me that students find their match based on their own dreams and wants for college! I value being a listening ear and someone that students and families can come to.

What's the best thing about UWF?

The best thing about UWF is how students are viewed as real people. Professors genuinely care about their students' academic journey and want you to succeed. UWF has an amazing community on campus, which makes you feel deeply supported as a student here.

What's your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the archives. Being a history major, I spent plenty of time down there! Many people don’t realize that the UWF Archives has one of the largest research collections in existence on West Florida history. I loved viewing old pictures of the beaches and seeing how much the Emerald Coast has changed. They even have a collection on UWF where you can see our college’s evolution!

    What makes Pensacola special?

Pensacola often gets overlooked, but it is one of the best places I have ever lived. It has one-of-a-kind white-sand beaches and plenty of events to keep you busy! Some of my favorite activities include watching the Blue Angels, going to Blue Wahoos or Ice Flyers games, and walking down Palafox!

What can students expect at UWF?

Students can expect to be challenged in their studies at UWF while also creating lasting memories through our clubs, organizations, and events on campus. UWF offers so many opportunities for students that there is truly something for everyone.

What are the top questions you get asked about UWF?

Some of the top questions I get asked about UWF are where is it and what is it. In my opinion, UWF and Pensacola are severely underrated, and often people just have never heard of it or visited the area. Although UWF is a Division II school, we are rapidly growing and creating new opportunities for students every year. Pensacola is not a huge city, but it has everything that students need, from relaxing beaches and coffee shops to lively parades and concerts. Every student can find something to fit their interests here!
