Pensacola Children’s Museum reopens with new exhibits funded by IMPACT 100
On Dec. 20, the Pensacola’s Children Museum will reopen to the public with a new exhibit entitled “Our Town: A Space for All,” featuring various historic businesses and sites inspired by Pensacola landmarks. The museum is also debuting a new, publicly accessible sensory space, entitled “Calming Seas Sensory Space,” which is the first of its kind in Northwest Florida. Both the exhibit and sensory space were funded through IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area with a $100,670 grant.
UWF announces Fall 2025 President’s, Dean’s Lists
A total of 3,873 undergraduate students enrolled during the Fall 2025 semester at the University of West Florida were named to the President’s or Dean’s Lists.
UWF researchers advance AI tools for wildfire damage mapping and environmental monitoring
Researchers at the University of West Florida have introduced a new benchmark dataset and evaluation of artificial intelligence methods that could greatly improve how wildfire damage is mapped and monitored at scale. The study, led by Valeria Martin, a Ph.D. student in the intelligent systems and robotics program, introduces CalFireSeg-50, a dataset built from satellite imagery and data from 50 of California’s largest wildfires between 2019 and 2023.
