UWF ranks No. 2 in Florida State University System Board of Governors’ performance metrics, first to meet every accountability goal
The University of West Florida ranked No. 2 among Florida's 12 public universities in the Florida Board of Governors' 2025-26 performance-based funding model and was the only institution in the State University System to meet all 11 accountability goals. UWF earned 92 out of 100 points, one point higher than last year, trailing only the University of South Florida.
UWF professor secures $825,000 grant to support cancer survivors
University of West Florida Assistant Professor of Public Health Dr. Karishma Chhabria Unrue has been awarded a nearly $825,000 grant through the Florida Cancer Innovation Fund to lead a statewide initiative focused on improving the health and well-being of breast and prostate cancer survivors.
UWF student receives Lafayette Fellowship
University of West Florida senior environmental science major Elisabetta Savini was selected out of 3,400 applicants nationwide as one of 30 students awarded the prestigious Lafayette Fellowship, a new program funded by the French government to strengthen ties between the United States and France. Savini’s application process was supported by the John W. Merting Family Office of National Fellowships, which provides UWF students with guidance, mentorship and resources to pursue prestigious national and international awards.
