HMCSE is dedicated to providing quality student learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. Student engagement has been proven to be directly related to student satisfaction and success.
HMCSE recognizes the value of faculty and student interaction in learning and hands-on experiences. The goal is to provide academic and professional development programming that promotes student success at UWF and beyond. To enhance learning and success, HMCSE endorses and supports the following student scholars programs:
NEW! UWF STEM Scholars
The UWF STEM Scholars Program is designed to support high academic achieving students desiring to pursue graduate degrees or work in STEM fields.

CHEM Scholars
The Chem Scholars Program was established in 2011 to recruit and retain high-achieving chemistry students and to increase the number of chemistry students pursuing PhD or MD-PhD degrees, with an emphasis on under-represented students.

NIH MARC U*STAR Scholars
The MARC U*STAR Scholars Program is a grant-funded training program sponsored by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and National Institutes of Health (NIGMS/NIH). It supports talented undergraduate students from underrepresented groups who plan to pursue a PhD or MD/PhD and a research career in physics, biological sciences or chemical sciences.

The Earth Scholars Program is designed to enhance student-learning experiences by increasing involvement in research and volunteer opportunities along with peer-to-peer mentoring with Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty and students.

The Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering Student Engagement Faculty Advisory Board (HMCSE SEFAB) was created to formalize and synergize student engagement resources and programs. The goal of SEFAB is to streamline resources and professional development offerings throughout the college.
SEFAB meets once per month to plan semester events, discuss best practices, and assets what worked in the past semester. In addition to the monthly meetings, SEFAB members participate in two college level student engagement events per semester. SEFAB has been responsible for events such as the Faculty and Student Panel held in January 2017 and are currently working with Career Services to plan college-specific events.
