Climbing Center Construction

The wall is made by Pyramide, a relatively new company in the United States, but a seasoned company throughout Europe and Asia. Here's a timeline of construction and beyond:

3/13     The Wall is here! Arriving from Pennsylvania, and... France!

The first piece of steel went up this afternoon.

3/14     The first row of steel is almost done.

The first panels go up...

and more...

3/15    Busy day. The bouldering wall is started....

...and finished.

Panels continue, and the crack is started.

3/16      The large overhang goes in.

Then the small overhang.

3/17      Climbing hold inserts (the light gray discs) are installed.

3/18      Climbing routes (problems/puzzles) are begun...

and labeled with tape.

3/19      The bouldering wall is complete...

...and the climbing wall.

3/31     Climbing demonstrations during the grand opening ceremonies.

4/12        The padded floor is installed and the large bouldering mat arrives. The wall opens to custom group climbing events!

5/29          Floor anchors installed

7/13         Grand Opening at 4pm with the President's Climbing Challenge. Dr. Cavanaugh and Dr. Ford scaled the wall, with great support from our many spectators. Thanks again everyone! This was followed by our first busy day of open climbing.

What now? Even though we are open, you may see construction at different times of the year. We may be inspecting the wall, or we may be changing the shape to offer climbers different challenges.
