The Summer Research Academy provides support for students to complete research with a UWF faculty mentor. Faculty mentors for 2012 include Zhiyong Hu, Justice Mbizo, Randy Goff, Ramie Gougeon, Karen Molek, Giang Nguyen-Nguyen, Tim Royappa and Hedi Salanki-Rubardt.

Liquid Crystals Team Presents in Dallas

Physics majors Darren North, Samuel Beck, Jodie Gray and Shane Drye present their research at the American Physical Society Meeting in Dallas Texas.
Upon their return from Dallas, the physics group reported "after one of the team members gave their presentation, our group was approached by a professor from Kent State which is known for their work in Liquid Crystals. She was so impressed she wants us all to apply to Kent State for graduate school and encouraged us to also apply for their REU summer program. She was impressed on the strength of our research in liquid crystals and said it was nice to see an undergraduate program have a strong research group."
