The Mechanical Engineering department at UWF will give you a unique, hands-on experience that will prepare you to be a leader in an engineering career or graduate studies. We are a student-focused department that offers many opportunities for experiential learning.

Our B.S.in Mechanical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org. ABET is the recognized global accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology and is among the most respected accreditation organizations in the United States.

ABET accreditation is assurance that a program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students.

HMCSE students need your support. Thanks to a generous matching gift from Drs. Muhammad and Fatema Rashid, all gifts made to the STEM scholarship for females and first-generation students by this Fall will be matched up to 50,000 dollars to create a $100K endowment that will benefit STEM students for years to come.

Two Campus Locations

We are one program in two locations: Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach. Both locations have equivalent labs and all courses are transmitted between the two sites. No matter which location you choose you will not be just a number. We will know you as a person and work with you to help you achieve your professional goals.

Research Opportunities

Our faculty are active in research alongside undergraduate mechanical engineering students. We have many opportunities to participate in research both during the regular school year and in the summer. Please contact Dr. Michael Reynolds to learn more about research in Mechanical Engineering.
