Enterprise Program

The Enterprise Program is a series of required courses that create a design/build experience for Mechanical Engineering students. In Enterprise students work on a team to create a real product for industry or in a national competition.

This program is made up of student-driven teams that work like companies on real-world projects ranging from finding solutions to global challenges to making an existing product better; from participating in national competitions to working with local companies on a critical design. Students in Mechanical Engineering will have up to six semesters of experience with the Enterprise Program.

Amazon Arm

Pick and Place

The Pick and Place team will build a small robot to compete in the Amazon Robotics Challenge. The challenge combines object recognition, grasp planning, compliant manipulation, motion planning, task planning and error detection. The robots are scored by how many items are properly stored in a fixed time. This year the team will focus on improving the previous year's design.

Argo Armada Rocket Team

Argo Armada

The Argo Armada builds custom rockets for various competitions. The goal of the 2022-2023 team is to achieve Level 3 certification and to prepare for the ESRA National Competition.  We also have a Rocket Club that is open to all UWF students.

SAE Aero Team

SAE Aero (Argonautics)

The SAE Aero team designs and builds a radio-controlled model aircraft that will lift the largest payload while still maintaining structural integrity. The goal of the 2022-2023 year is to compete in the SAE Aero East competition.

SAE Baja Team

SAE Baja

The SAE Baja team designs and builds a baja-type vehicle for a yearly SAE Baja competition. The competition, which draws about 100 teams from universities in the US and around the world, is comprised of endurance, agility, power and speed events. The team competed for the first time in 2019 and is looking to place in the top 40 in the nation in 2023.

Tech Art

The Tech Art team creates engineering-inspired art. Works of art will be placed on and off the UWF campus. The project incorporates art with engineering materials, stress analysis and fluid dynamics due to wind loading.

Solar Car Team

Solar Car

The Solar Car Team is designing and building a solar car for the 2023 Formula Sun Grand Prix event. The team was recently awarded a legacy car from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is preparing for the 2023 competition.

Skateboard Team

Skateboard

The skateboard team designs and builds recyclable skateboards made from renewable materials.

NASA Rover Team

NASA Rover

The NASA Rover team will build a two-person vehicle for the NASA Rover Challenge Competition each spring in Huntsville, Alabama. The rover must be human-powered and able to traverse rough terrain, including rocks and hills. This year's team will compete in the challenge for the first time.

Blue plane built by Design Build Fly engineering team

Design-Build-Fly

The AIAA Design Build Fly team will be competing in the annual AIAA Design Build Fly competition. Student teams will design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric-powered, radio-controlled aircraft that can best meet the specified mission profile. The goal is a balanced design possessing good demonstrated flight handling qualities and practical and affordable manufacturing requirements while providing a high vehicle performance.
