UWF again on list of top Southeast schools

The University of West Florida once again has been named one of the best colleges and universities in the Southeast according to "The Princeton Review." The education services company selected the school as one of 141 institutions it recommends in its "Best in the Southeast" section of the Web site feature 2010 Best Colleges: Region by Region that was posted July 27.
UWF coach Stinnett stirs community pride

Last season, University of West Florida basketball player Max Hoggard helped the Argos to a mediocre 13-12 record. His team played its home games in a near-empty arena. UWF hopes it addressed both of those issues ? the need for wins and more support ? with one move on Monday. The school introduced local coaching legend Bob Stinnett as the new men's basketball coach.

Florida's Great Northwest awarded two grants Monday totaling $1.15 million for scholarships to aid in further developing the region's information technology and engineering workforce. The funding is for seven Northwest Florida institutions — Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, the University of West Florida, Pensacola Junior College, Northwest Florida State College, Gulf Coast Community College and Chipola College.

More UWF housing in 2010

Come August 2010, about 250 more students will be able to live on campus at the University of West Florida. UWF officials had a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning - despite a downpour - to celebrate the start of a five-story residence hall located west of Martin Hall, the campus' largest housing facility.
