Welcome to the web-based home of the University Honors Program! The sidebar to your left should be able to direct you wherever you wish to go. If you are looking for a particular bit of information and cannot find it, feel free to contact us and we shall do our best to assist you.
After a long, difficult search, the University Honors Program has found itself a new Assistant Director! We are pleased to welcome Jennifer Phillips, a former Honors student, back to the Honors family. So, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the Honors Program, you may now direct them to Jennifer, as well as to DL and Deborah. Tina is and will always be missed, but we are excited for the opportunity to work with Jennifer during the upcoming school year!
Jennifer has joined us just in time for the University Honors Program to reach a new milestone - the Honors offices will very soon be moved into Pace Hall! By the start of the new semester, you will no longer be visiting DL, Deborah, Keysha, and Jennifer in Building 50. Instead, they will make themselves at home much closer to the Honors students living in Pace Hall. We hope that this will make the Honors faculty and staff more accessible to students, and will give Honors more space to utilize for future meetings, events, and social gatherings. This is an exciting step in Honors history, and we look forward to the opportunities that this move will bring!
web update! Our first group of International Summer Experience students is back from Panama! Learn about what they experienced during their time in Central America. Also, New Student Orientation season is here! Honors will be there to help you with your trial schedules, and with your acclimation to the University Honors Program. Currently, the Honors Program Committee is undergoing the process of finding a new Assistant Director to the Honors Program.
On Monday, May 12, several students met downtown to speak with Marny Gilluly, Board of Trustees member, to thank her for her support of Honors and its international/summer experience trips. Currently, several Honors students are studying environmental science in Panama, and in just a few weeks others will travel to Washington, D.C., to study political science. It is thanks to the generosity and support of Marny Gilluly and other Honors supporters that these students are able to participate in these once-in-a-lifetime educational experiences.
On Friday, May 2, several students were recognized for their achievements during the 2007/2008 school year at the annual Honors Graduation ceremony. Congratulations to all those who presented at conferences this year, who helped to make the Honors Council and Program a huge success, and especially to those special few who have completed all Honors requirements and are now Honors Alumni! We are very proud of all of our Honors graduates, and we wish you nothing but success and happiness in the future.
