Georgia Adams

Georgia is among the first generation college students featured by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities in its First Generation Series, a multimedia project highlighting the stories of first generation college students at the group's 420 member campuses. Congratulations to the following students for receiving the Outstanding Delegation award for the University of West Florida and the Department of Government in the first annual Florida Model Legislature in Tallahassee:

• Mark Alvarez - Received the Outstanding Senator award.
• Damian Arias - Elected Lieutenant governor for the 2010-11 session and will serve in that capacity in next year's conference. He also, received the Honorable Senator award.
• Mary Ann Johansen - Received the Outstanding Senator award.
• Rebekah Johansen - Received the Outstanding Senator award.
• Lonex Louisdor - Received the Outstanding Senator award.

2010 UWF Graduate Georgia Adams

Earns Dow Jones Internship -

Georgia Adams, editor-in-chief of The Voyager, has been named a Dow Jones News Fund intern on the basis of her performance on a nationwide copy editing test. She will be employed as an editing intern at the Roanoke Times in Virginia this summer. Adams is the first UWF student to receive a Dow Jones internship. Adams studied in Japan 2005-2006 and graduated summa cum laude May 1. She was a double major in the Department of Communication Arts, where she was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in 2010, and the Department of Government, where she was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in international relations in 2009.
