Every ten years, the U.S. Census is conducted and the population figures identified by this monumental effort are used to re-draw district boundaries for elective offices in Florida. This year, the Florida Legislature is beginning it's legislative session early to complete the redistricting process in time for the 2012 election cycle.
Redistricting work began last year. The work included numerous opportunities for public input. Now as the proposals are brought forward, the legislature will have the opportunity to vote on the new district lines.
