Geographic information technology is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing employment and research sectors in the public and private sector. The UWF graduate GIS certificate program is designed to provide students and working professionals with the conceptual base and technical skills necessary to develop and manage GIS projects relating to environmental and socio‑economic applications. The UWF GIS graduate certificate will count towards the URISA sponsored GISCI (GISP) certification. Students in this program can advance within their chosen career by completion of this program. GIS practitioners can complete the program in the online environment by enrolling as a non-degree seeking student.
Entrants must hold an undergraduate degree. Students must receive formal approval from the GIS Certificate program committee.

Transfer credits are accepted for prerequisite classes only. Students who successfully complete the 12-hour program with an overall 3.0 GPA will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science.
