I am interested in examining the water quality of coastal waters and estuaries. I am particularly interested in projects that examine how nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus enter these waters and affect the health of coastal waters. Two areas of current research include measuring the environmental impact of submarine groundwater discharge into coastal waters and assessing the mechanics of harmful algal blooms in northwest Florida estuaries.
My research often involves analytical chemistry methods and I am particularly interested in students who either have experience in environmental chemistry or are willing to learn about it! Please check my personal webpage (http://uwf.edu/mschwartz) for more information.
