Ponds to be cleaned by Escambia County before the end of 1999 were field checked.

Escambia County's street sweeping sections were digitized into ArcView.

Pond locations were adjusted in the digital database based on results from field checks. Construction dates for ponds maintained by the City of Pensacola were added to the database.

Some interviews of solid waste managers and directors of public works departments of counties in the Florida Panhandle were conducted to identify preferred reuse options for the sediments.

The QAPP was updated and resubmitted to FDEP.

Final arrangements for the collection of samples from a pile of street sweepings in the City of Tampa were initiated.

Arrangements were made with the "Wetlands Lab" at UWF to facilitate the analytical phase of the project.

In accordance with the project's schedule, most effort this month was dedicated to collecting samples from ponds and street sweepings. Street sweeping samples were obtained from crews from the City of Pensacola and Escambia County. Pond sediments were collected from various ponds maintained by Escambia County.

The time dedicated to the project by the lead PI during September is estimated at 25%.

In October collection of samples will continue. At the end of October analysis of the samples will begin. A TAG meeting will be called for early November.
