Monthly Report for the Month of October, 1999
Title: Contamination of sediments in street sweepings and stormwater systems: pollutant composition and sediment reuse options.
Completion date: March 31, 2000
In accordance with the project's schedule, most effort this month was dedicated to collecting samples from ponds and street sweepings. Sediments were collected from street sweepers and ponds of the City of Pensacola and Escambia County.
Newly obtained information on maintenance schedules for Escambia County's ponds was added to the digital database.
Some interviews of solid waste managers and directors of public works departments of counties in the Florida Panhandle were conducted to identify preferred reuse options for the sediments.
The project's QAPP received final approval from the FDEP (conditional approval had been granted earlier).
The time dedicated to the project by the lead PI during October is estimated at 25%.
On November 8 analysis of the samples will begin. Some additional samples will be collected during November. A TAG meeting will be held on November 10.
