Dr. Nye Grant teaches numerous construction-related courses, including Estimating, Materials and Methods, Sustainable Construction and Engineering Economy.

Grant worked as a project engineer for a private company and as a senior planner for Orange County before earning his Ph.D. in Building Construction from the University of Florida in 2010.

His research has examined numerous aspects of construction, including safety of workers and the life cycle of buildings. His work includes analysis of Life Cycle Assessment, Service Life Prediction, and factors determining a building’s longevity. Grant’s work has been in peer-reviewed publications such as Building Research and Information, Safety Science, and the Journal of Industrial Ecology.

At UWF he also is the primary coordinator for the Building 80 renovation project, which will house a soils lab, a trade demonstration area and an energy efficiency showcase, among other construction-related facilities.

Grant’s computer skills include construction related technology such as Primavera Project Manager, Timberline Estimating Software and AutoCAD.
