For exceptional and professional effort resulting in the saving of a life, Chief John Warren presented Sgt Walter Davis and Corporal Christopher Hinnant with the Life Saving Commendation Award.

On April 22, 2012, Sgt Davis and Cpl. Hinnant were dispatched on a report of a student not breathing in the woods at the Edward Ball Nature Trail on the Baroco Property. They arrived at the nearest entry point of the Trail and ran, on foot, one mile and a half into the woods before locating the Student. Cpl. Hinnant immediately connected an AED which administered an electrical shock and then initiated CPR. Sgt Davis arrived on scene a short time later and assisted Cpl. Hinnant administering CPR until EMS arrived and took control. Cpl. Hinnant and Sgt Davis, exemplifying the highest standards of their profession, saved the student’s life.
