Ten years ago, a transformative journey began for educators along Florida’s Gulf Coast. The first cohort of the Emerald Coast Writing Project (ECWP) gathered in the summer of 2015, marking the launch of what would become an official National Writing Project site. Hosted by the University of West Florida, this inaugural year set the foundation for a thriving community of teacher-writers dedicated to improving writing instruction across Emerald Coast classrooms.
Participants
Cohort 1 consisted of 25 teachers from Escambia County School District. Participating fellows attended the entire institute, all twelve (12) days – beginning to end, of the ECWP Institute. These teachers completed 1,000 hours of professional development across the county (in addition to the summer institute).
