Biography
Dr. Kenny O’Connor is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Logistics in the Department of Commerce, where he blends academic rigor with decades of executive-level industry experience. His research explores the intersection of technology, business, and human behavior—with a particular focus on the impacts of artificial intelligence and the global acceptance of emerging technologies.
Dr. O’Connor’s scholarly work examines topics such as AI anxiety, the Diffusion of Innovation framework, and the Theory of Planned Behavior. In an era where artificial intelligence is reshaping every facet of business operations, he investigates how acceptance, performance, and satisfaction intersect to influence organizational success.
A Pensacola native, Dr. O’Connor grew up along the Florida Gulf Coast and played a pivotal role in expanding his family’s large construction business while completing his undergraduate studies at the University of West Florida (BSBA, Marketing, 2004). He went on to earn his MBA from Auburn University before joining UWF in 2009 as an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Administration Department. Over the next 16 years, he balanced a robust teaching schedule with senior executive responsibilities in the construction sector.
After earning his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of South Alabama, Dr. O’Connor joined the Department of Commerce at UWF full-time. Drawing on his unique blend of academic insight and hands-on business leadership, he is dedicated to shaping the next generation of business leaders while advancing world-class research in supply chain logistics and technology adoption.
