Biography

Captain Amanda Eckel currently serves as the Operations Flight Commander at the University of West Florida, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 014, Pensacola, Florida. In this position, she manages the development of 120 cadets, annually executing over 200 hours of professional miliary training. Additionally, in her position as Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies, she is the lead instructor for 32 lessons on advanced leadership and ethics, ultimately preparing cadets for a commission as Second Lieutenants in the Department of the Air Force.

Captain Eckel hails from Toledo, Ohio, where she commissioned out of Bowling Green State University in May 2019. She completed Force Support Officer training in July 2020, and since then has held various force support positions revolving around personnel and readiness programs. Captain Eckel took part in Austere Challenge 2024, U.S. European Command’s premier joint, multi-domain North Atlantic Treaty Organization exercise, where she was the principle A1 Battle Staff Representative coordinating combatant command support. Prior to her current position, she was the Military Personnel Flight Commander, 52d Force Support Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
