Biography
Dr. Patrick Lucas has taught courses in the Legal Environment of Business, Partnership Taxation, the Taxation of Pass Through Entities, Corporate Tax, Estate, Gift and Trust Taxation, and Tax Databases, Research and Procedure for the University of West Florida College of Business. Prior to joining the UWF faculty, he taught similar courses at public and private universities in the states of Tennessee and Utah as well as at a law school in Tennessee.
Dr. Lucas has practiced tax law at major law firms for over 30 years in the states of Alabama, Washington and Tennessee and was admitted to the bar in each of the states. His law practice focused on partnership taxation, tax-exempt organizations and corporate reorganizations. His research interest continues in partnership taxation and the law of tax-exempt organizations. His research has been published in the Cumberland Law Review and the Akron Tax Journal.
Dr. Lucas received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Vanderbilt University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida.
