Biography

Dr. Doug Waggle, a Professor, teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on Investments, Managerial Finance, Personal Financial Planning and other subjects.

Waggle’s research interests include asset allocations and individual portfolio decisions.

He and colleagues are working on a paper entitled, “Human Fallout of the 2008 Financial Crisis: Suicides as a Response to Economic Stress.”
Waggle’s latest publications included a look at “The Effects of Debt Capacity on the Long-Term Stock Returns of Debt-Free Firms” (Applied Economics).

His wide-ranging research has examined aspects of REITs, timberland and farmland as investments, and underpricing of IPOs and “Roll-Up IPOs.”

He also has examined how stock markets react to restatements of financial statements, investment opportunities in the residential housing market, ETF betas (a measure of a fund's sensitivity to market movements), issues involving the instruction of undergraduate students, and tax effects on traditional and Roth IRAs.

Waggle received a doctorate in Finance from the University of Alabama and an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi. UWF’s College of Business named him Faculty Member of the Year in 2015; he has won awards for excellence in research as well.
