Development Happens Here
When I first started attending the University of West Florida, I remember feeling aimless and worried about what career path to pursue. I had lots of interests, but nothing that felt connected with professional goals. It wasn’t until I connected with the Talent Catalyst program here at UWF and received my internship in the University Marketing and Communications department that my professional passions truly emerged.
In the summer of 2025, the Talent Catalyst program connected me with UWF’s Marketing and Communications department and helped me secure a position as a communications assistant. Talent Catalyst not only connected me with a job that has given me hands-on experience and real-world opportunities, but they also provided tangible professional development opportunities. Dr. Sherry Hartnett, director of the Talent Catalyst Program, and Laura Swann, assistant director, encouraged our professional development with work certification programs, the professional personality DISC assessment and professional networking opportunities. They have supported me in every way possible, from the interview process to work-life balance advice.
Crafting stories, engaging communities and having a hand in creative content has been a life-changing experience for me. Not only has Talent Catalyst made my dreams a reality, but they have also given me fundamental tools to uplift me on my way to success. With the knowledge I’ve received from UWF’s Talent Catalyst program and the experiences I have gained, I feel confident in what the future holds after graduation.
