Excellence Happens Here
When I first started playing football at UWF, one word continuously remained at the forefront of our program. “Arete,” Greek for excellence, has held my team and me up to a certain standard both on and off the field. As Argos, we take pride in doing both our academics and our athletics with excellence that can be seen in even the smallest of details. At UWF, arete has become more than just a word to me – it has become the primary focus in my life.
I feel blessed beyond measure to have been under the mentorship of both Kaleb Nobles, UWF football’s head coach, and Joe Wintrick, my tight end coach. Both of them, along with the rest of the football staff, have pushed me to grow mentally and physically into an excellent player, student and member of society. Additionally, serving as a leader for UWF’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes has allowed me to be surrounded by other excellent athletes who celebrate my wins, support me during hardships and push me to succeed. FCA has helped me build such a great community with other athletes on campus, and it has even given me a couple of lifelong friendships.
The lessons you take away from any sport will carry you through your career. I am proud to be an Argo athlete and grateful for the virtues it has instilled in me. To my fellow Argos, create excellence and hold yourself to the arete standard in everything that you do, because how you do anything is how you do everything.
