Growth Happens Here
As a freshman at UWF, I was ambitious to get involved and grow my friendships, community engagement and networking abilities. At the same time, I was scared to try new things or to bite off more than I could chew. However, the first opportunity I took to get involved opened doors and allowed me to expand my involvement in different ways. Taking on leadership roles, joining a sorority and networking with students and staff have all pushed me to grow as an individual.
Each organization I joined on campus has fostered my growth and development. Campus Activity Board, Alpha Delta Pi, UWF Street Team and Student Organizational Council all hold a special place in my heart and have had a hand in developing the person I am today. Each organization pushed me out of my comfort zone, expanded my personal network and enhanced my college experience. If there was anything I could encourage other students to do while at UWF, it would be to get as involved as possible. After all, I define a true Argo as someone who leads by example, spreads school spirit, is kind and gives back to the community and the University.
As my Spring 2026 graduation steadily approaches and I wrap up my time here at UWF, I am grateful to have chosen the University of West Florida as my place of education to earn my B.A. in Elementary Education. The School of Education fosters a welcoming environment where the instructors and professors genuinely care about the students' learning. The program allows students’ passion for teaching to flourish using hands-on learning, something I value in my education. Mentors like my professor, Dr. Bemiss, have advised me on how to be a successful teacher and uplifted me by giving me incredible praise on my work. This support from UWF’s faculty gave me the confidence to grow into the current student, future teacher and community leader that I’ve always wanted to be.
