Connection Happens Here

Choosing the University of West Florida was easy not only because of its academic excellence, but the various resources available for students to connect and thrive. From the moment I stepped on campus, I became involved in student organizations and was drawn in by the community found here. The opportunities at UWF to get involved are truly endless. I’ve studied and interned abroad, gained exposure to undergraduate research and explored my interests here at UWF. I may have walked into a campus event alone or slightly nervous, but it was in these moments that I found lifelong friendships.

I’ve also created meaningful connections in my professional life with the support of my professors. Through the expertise of the faculty in my department, my passion for environmental science has only deepened. I was paired with Dr. Ortegren, a professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science, as part of an undergraduate research program. He instructed me on analyzing academic papers and thinking critically on unfamiliar processes. Now as I prepare to apply for graduate school, Dr. Ortegren and other faculty at UWF show me unwavering support and guidance during this transition.

I am confident that UWF is one of the best institutions out there, a place where students’ passions are met with enthusiastic support. In every corner of campus, I have been met with a smile and a level of care above no other. It is a privilege to see how Argos encourage and lift each other up. You can walk away from any college with a degree, but as spring graduation nears, I will cross the stage carrying lifelong friendships, invaluable experiences and a profound connection to the campus and community.
