Leadership Happens Here
When I first arrived at UWF, I was still in the process of figuring out who I wanted to be. Through AFROTC and my various leadership roles on campus and in my fraternity, I have grown into a confident, disciplined and focused person who is motivated by my purpose to lead.
My speech teacher, Mr. Dewey Ware, adjunct instructor in the Department of Communication, had a lasting impact on my time here at UWF. From my first semester of freshman year, he instilled valuable lessons on how to carry myself, communicate with confidence and present myself as a leader. The skills and mindset he taught me have stayed with me throughout my time at UWF and continue to shape how I lead and represent myself in both academic and leadership settings.
UWF has prepared me through hands-on leadership opportunities, academic support and real-world experience. AFROTC strengthened my discipline and leadership skills, while my campus roles serving as a Student Ambassador, AASA Executive Board Member and Vice President of the Beta Beta Phi Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. taught me how to manage responsibilities, communicate effectively and lead diverse groups. As an Argo, I try to embody resilience, leadership and pride wherever I go. UWF has endless opportunities for leadership. My advice to other students is to take advantage of them while you can.
