Meghan Albano
Physician Assistant
After graduating from the University of West Florida with a master’s degree in public health, Albano earned a master’s degree from Florida State University’s physician assistant program. She holds a B.S. in exercise science from FSU. Albano, PA-C, MPH, M.S., is a board-certified physician assistant who provides care to individuals at Baptist Medical Group Family Medicine – Westside. She specializes in family medicine.
How did UWF prepare you for your career?
Prior to physician assistant school I received my master’s degree in public health with the University of West Florida. With this degree and working in public health in Pensacola, I became acutely aware of the needs of my hometown community. I am very passionate about bridging my medical degree with my public health background, and my personal goals are to continue to use my collaborations with community organizations to better serve patients in all dimensions of wellness.
How did you become interested in family medicine?
My interest in medicine was solidified in high school. My degree in public health helped shape the desire to focus on primary care. I want to build trusting and lasting relationships with my patients. My patients are more than just an individual, they become like a family member. Family Medicine allows me to establish relationships with my patients. I was also very interested in the diversity of practice that family medicine offers. I see a range of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics and have the ability to address and treat both acute and chronic illnesses. Family practice fulfills my interest in practicing holistic medicine.
How does it feel to be taking care of the Pensacola community?
I was born and raised in Pensacola. I have a direct interest in the health of my hometown community. I feel privileged to be able to work and care for the community that I love, and I look forward to serving others to the best of my abilities.
