Government Relations at Nemours Children's Health System

The University of West Florida is focused on ensuring each student finds their passion and a meaningful career that aligns with their goals. The faculty inspires, students dream, staff supports and peers listen. Throughout the entire experience, students find out what they want to do with their lives.

Why was UWF the right fit for you?

At UWF, I was a name, not a number. The student-to-professor ratio allowed me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with my fellow classmates and my professors.

Tell us about your career today.

I have the privilege of serving as the liaison between each of the 12 State University System Board of Trustees and the Florida Board of Governors. Trustees bring a unique perspective and sense of accountability with a focus on student success to each of our incredible universities. I am a resource, an advocate and a partner to each of the university trustees.

How did your studies at UWF prepare you for life beyond college?

My studies at UWF taught me important critical thinking and problem solving skills that allow me to be an effective, solution-based professional today. The leadership opportunities outside of the classroom, as senator and student body president in SGA, went hand-in-hand with my studies, and they prepared me for my career and my life. This is where I found my passion for public service and government.

As a relatively recent graduate, how did it feel to be part of the ‘sea change’ on campus?

UWF is more than a university, it is a home to its students. When I think about ‘sea change,’ it reminds me of how I felt some mornings waking up and walking to the library. I was in awe that this is the place I will forever get to call home, thankful for the people that challenged me to be the best version of myself and committed to giving back and reinvesting in the place I credit my success.
