Linda Brotherton

General Manager, ConnectWise

Women need to understand how truly successful they can be in technology careers. Sometimes, unfortunately, people have these long-held ideals about technology being only a man’s business, so we have to continue to educate and understand that this is a field for women, too.

Tell us about your job.

I oversee product development for our ConnectWise Manage product, a software for anyone providing technology solutions to small and mid-size businesses.

What are you most proud of in your business?

There were two of us when we started ConnectWise 20 years ago, and today, we have more than 900 employees and international offices.

Do you have a favorite UWF memory?

I was a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed business fraternity, and one of the local beer vendors sponsored a competition among student organizations to see which group could collect the most empty bottles and cans. As business students, we took a strategic approach and had local bars collect them for us. We got the marketing club and the accounting and finance club to collect for us as franchisees. Our three groups finished first, second and third, winning cash money for our organizations. The ΣΑΕs were not happy with us! They called it cheating. We called it a business plan.
