Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Somnuk hails from Miami, Florida and was commissioned as an Artillery Officer in 2004 from the University of Florida ROTC program. His military education includes the Artillery Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College.

Lieutenant Colonel Somnuk’s previous assignments include Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer in the 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery Regiment at Camp Stanley, Korea; Platoon Leader in the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment operating as Mechanized Infantry in the battle for Ramadi in OIF 05-07; Assistant S3 Training Officer for the 1st Battalion, 94th Field Artillery Regiment at Strassburg Kaserne, Germany; Intelligence Advisor to the Iraqi Ground Forces Command in Baghdad, OIF 08-09; Collection Manager and Intel Analysis Branch Chief at U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida; Recruiting Company Commander in Honolulu, Hawaii; Intelligence Advisor for TAAC-E to the Afghan Army 201st Corps in Laghman Province for OEF; ACE Chief in the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York; Iran Conventional Military Branch Chief and Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff at U.S. Central Command in MacDill AFB, Florida; and Assistant Chief of Staff G-2 for the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Cavazos, Texas. He currently serves as the Professor of Military Science for the University of West Florida.

Lieutenant Colonel Somnuk and his wife, Kirenia, have been married for 14 years.  They have one son and twin daughters.
