Teaching Certificate and Other Credentials
The TeacherReady program can help you earn professional teaching credentials plus master's credits.
What Teaching Credentials Will I Receive?
If you are a US citizen, you will earn the following teaching credentials, when you complete all program requirements:
- Florida Professional Teacher Certification
- TeacherReady Certificate of Completion
- University of West Florida Transcripts
- Florida Reading Endorsement*
- Credit hours towards selected masters at the University of West Florida (6 credit hours waived by proficiency and an additional 6 credit hours tuition free)
- Up to 6-15 credit hours towards select master’s programs at partner universities
The TeacherReady team will complete and submit all necessary forms to the Florida Bureau of Educator Certification. The Florida Department of Education will then notify you to submit your fingerprints for a background clearance. Following clearance, the Florida Department of Education will award you the Florida Professional Teacher Certification as proof of your professional teaching credentials.
*TeacherReady students enrolled after April 4, 2022, can add a Florida Reading Endorsement to their professional certification upon completing the program. To add the reading endorsement, students must apply through the FLDOE. Learn more here. Students getting certified in Pre-K Primary, Elementary Education, English 5-9, English 6-12, ESOL and Exceptional Student Education are required to apply for the Florida Reading Endorsement with the FLDOE. While all TeacherReady students will meet the requirements upon completion, students obtaining certification in other areas than mentioned above can elect not to apply for the endorsement.
If you are not a US citizen, you will need to meet these additional requirements to be awarded your Florida Professional Teacher Certification:
- A teaching job in the State of Florida
- A current, valid, US Social Security Number (required to take the Florida Teacher Certification Exams)
Continuing Your Education: Master’s Credit Benefits
