Admissions Guidelines

Get started on your own schedule — become a teacher anytime, anywhere. Because all of your lessons are online, your classes can begin on your schedule. As soon as you complete the application and enrollment process, you can get started!


Admission Requirements

Degree Requirements

Hold a bachelor’s degree in any area from an accredited college or university.

Eligibility Statement

Candidates must have an Eligible Statement of Eligibility from the FLDOE.

Minimum GPA

Candidates must show that they have achieved a 2.5 GPA or higher in the last 60 hours of coursework.


Requirements For Non-U.S. Citizens:

  • DHS Authorization: Candidates need a valid and current U.S. Social Security Number.
  • Florida Residency and Employment: Candidates are required to show proof of a teaching position in Florida.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, and you do not meet these requirements, you may enroll in TeacherReady and will receive a “Certificate of Completion” from the University of West Florida detailing your training. However, you will not receive a professional certification from the State of Florida.
