McAfee for Students Installation
McAfee for Students is an Anti-Virus program that is provided to all UWF students for free. To get it, you must go to the SoftServ website. Follow the instructions below to download and run the McAfee for Students installer. It is highly recommended that you first uninstall any other Virus protection program. For instructions on how to do that click here.
Click here to go the SoftServ website to download the installer.
If you have trouble during the installation, feel free to call or stop by our office.
Located at the bottom is a link to step-by-step instructions with pictures on how to set McAfee to update automatically.
Click McAfee for Students and then click Continue
Enter your ArgoNet username and password. Then click Login.
If you have Windows XP or Vista select the McAfee for Students VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i for Windows XP/Vista/7 and then click Continue
Click Continue to Download
Read the Terms of Use and the Disclaimer. Click Agree at the bottom of the page.
Click Save and choose a location to save it on your hard drive.
Double click on the zip file to run the McAfee installation
Once you double click it, it will start it un-zip and install.
Once McAfee for Students is installed, it is important to set it to update regularly. There are always new viruses coming out, so you must keep your Anti-Virus software current in order to secure your computer from the threat of viruses.
