Step 1 - Windows Update

    Visit Windows Update and follow the instructions provided by Microsoft to install the
    latest patches for Windows.

    If the web address (URL) for Windows Update contains "v5" (as shown below), then

    Otherwise, if your Windows Update URL does NOT contain "v5", then click here for

Step 2 - Free Anti-Virus Software

Visit SoftServ, a service provided by the University that distributes software for free to students. Select McAfee for Students, click Continue, and follow the instructions provided to download McAfee. Before doing this, it is highly recommended to uninstall existing Anti-Virus programs (such as Norton AntiVirus or another version of McAfee VirusScan) through Add/Remove Programs (which may be accessed through the Control Panel).
