Mr. Chris Boning, Mr. Chris Jefferies and Mr. Dustin Lennon, senior MIS majors, presented an article titled "Development of a Mobile Graduate Assistant" at the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute conference held at Albuqurque, New Mexico from March 14-16, 2013. Articles presented at the conference were from authors located in 17 different countries.
This article was developed under guidance from Dr. June Wei, Associate Professor, Management/MIS, based on a project completed by the students in ISM 4113 - Systems Analysis and Design course that the students attended during Fall 2012 semester. In this project, students developed a Mobile Graduate Assistant System that has the capability of helping graduating seniors and alumni in conducting their own job searches. The system is also capable of helping employers with their recruiting activities. The system uses cutting edge technologies such as cloud computing and security mechanisms to provide essential information to help with searching for an appropriate job. At the moment, the system is suitable for MIS majors but can be rapidly adjusted to be suitable for other majors. The students presented to professors attending the conference and gained confidence in their own abilities by answering questions. The students also learned about their profession by networking with professors in the field.
