ArgoAir is UWF's on-campus wireless network, also known as "Wi-Fi." ArgoAir lets you be mobile and connect to the Internet from many locations throughout campus including the John C. Pace Library, the University Commons on the Pensacola campus, and most classrooms and administrative buildings. Unlike many public wireless networks, ArgoAir is safe and secure and only available to those with UWF computer accounts.
The interactive map below displays the coverage area. The buildings highlighted in red have indoor coverage (list of buildings); the blue area depicts the outdoor coverage area.
If you are purchasing a wireless adapter/card for use with ArgoAir, it's important to choose one that is compatible with the UWF network. Wireless cards must support 128 bit encryption and the 802.11b and/or 802.11g wireless standards. ITS has tested several wireless cards to verify their performance with ArgoAir.
When installing a new wireless card, only install the drivers - do not install any additional software provided on the CD. Once your hardware is set up, you must configure your device for the ArgoAir network by following the UWF installation instructions. University Guests: A username and password are required to use ArgoAir. Your UWF host can obtain a guest ArgoAir account from the ITS Help Desk or a Local Service Provider.
After your wireless device is configured, most adapters will automatically connect to the wireless network when you enter the wireless coverage area. If you encounter problems setting up your wireless device, contact the ITS Help Desk.
