The breakout session began with introductions and a formal definition of academic integrity. Academic integrity is central to higher education and the institution. UWF must establish a predefined set of standards outlining its position on the issue of academic integrity. Recommendations related to this topic included:

1. Reviewing other institutions philosophical positions and missions
2. Establishing a UWF honor code for both students and faculty
3. Having faculty serve as role models for students
4. Establishing a zero tolerance policy and consistency with discipline
5. Increasing communication on this topic among various divisions of the campus community
6. Addressing issues related to online programs and integrity

The discussion on academic integrity resulted in the following three recommendations:

1. Academic Affairs division will take the lead and a stronger role with regard to academic integrity.
2. Consistency in communication is essential throughout the University with regard to implementation and consequences related to academic integrity.
3. Faculty development workshops should be a vehicle for continuing discussions on this topic throughout the University.
