Research interests:
Marine Natural Products. The isolation of compounds with biological activity and / or unusual structural features from marine sources such as sponges, soft corals and tunicates is currently under investigation.
Microbial Symbionts. The isolation of microbes (symbionts) associated with these marine organisms is being examined. Pure colonies that display biological activity will be isolated, characterized and grown in large scale liquid cultures in order to isolate the bioactive metabolites.
Synthesis. The synthesis, semi-synthesis and optimization of lead bioactive compounds will be carried out.
