Anna Shiplee joined the University Advising Center in 1996 as the Student-Athlete academic advisor.
She holds a B.A. and a M.A. in foreign languages from Florida State University.
Prior to coming to the University of West Florida in 1988, she worked at FSU for 11 years. Her professional experience
in higher education includes the areas of undergraduate studies, registration, and domestic and international admissions.
As an advisor in the UAC, Ms. Shiplee is also responsible for teaching the Academic Foundations Seminar, a freshmen seminar
course to assist students in adjusting to the university and learning the skills to help them succeed as students, her class was the winner of the 2011 Project Showcase. As is
the case with the other professional advisors in the University Advising Center, she has a strong dedication to helping
students succeed not only by assisting them in choosing the appropriate courses and meeting the academic requirements of
the university, but to the many other transitions that new freshman face.
