Daniel R. Lucas, CPA

Dan serves as the Associate Vice President of University Advancement and as the Chief Financial Officer of the University of West Florida Foundation, Inc. He oversees the budgets for the Division of Advancement including WUWF Public Radio, UWF Historic Trust, Institutional Communications, Development, Alumni, as well as the UWF Foundation.

As CFO for the UWF Foundation he oversees the Foundation’s stewardship and acceptance of private gifts and resources from generous donors for the benefit of the University’s mission and vision. The Foundation responsibilities include management of an investment pool in excess of $74M, the fiduciary responsibilities for UWF Housing assets and the management of the related bond debt.

His background includes financial statement audit work beginning in 1998. He was successful in passing four parts of the Uniform CPA Exam in one sitting. In his career in public accounting, he has served a vast array of clients consisting of entrepreneurial companies, not-for-profit organizations, and large governmental entities. His experience includes audits of Broward County, Fla., and the School Board of Broward County, Fla., with KPMG. He brings unique private industry perspectives to the Division and the Foundation in its supporting role to the future endeavors of the University of West Florida.

Since becoming part of the team in 2014 he continues to improve and integrate systems within the Division of Advancement enhancing the efficiency in its role as it supports the University. He has also negotiated the refunding of two bond issues that combined, reduced debt service payments by more than $2.89M, a net present value savings in excess of $2.38M. He is currently working in conjunction with Financial Aid and multiple University Departments to centralize scholarship awarding and systems processing across the campus.
